Unfortunate part is with the invent and adoption of XML as de-facto people forgot what EDI can bring on to the table, and now since EDI has to be used in conjunction with HIPAA XML has to secure its place in the B2B world. EDI representation is done in XML but resultant DOM is super convoluted.
